Plato's allegory of the cave
Plato's allegory of the cave: The cave in which the prisoners sit is our bodies. Plato believes that the soul is trapped in the body, and if we can travel with our soul to the exit of the cave, we can see true reality. He talks about breaking out of the chains and leaving the cave - which although is desirable is also scary so many prisoners do not really want to leave.
