Examples Help! Use of Exposition in Poems & Poetry
Examples of Exposition can be found in many examples of speeches and books by famous authors but not so in poems or peotry. The purpose of exposition is to explain a plot, character, setting and theme of an essay or story. Exposition provides very direct and clear literal descriptions of things, thoughts, or feelings. Some forms of writing do not always lend themselves very well to direct exposition. Exposition is therefore not often used in poems and poetry. Poetry relies heavily on the metaphor. A metaphor is an implied comparison as in "Snow white fleece" as opposed to a direct comparison found in exposition.
